TALKING POINTS POST EVERTON (H): HUMPHREYS
Defender reflects on point against Everton
Saturday afternoon's encounter against Everton was a special moment for Bashir Humphreys, who made his first league start since February following a sustained period of time out through injury.
The 22-year-old impressed at the back in a game that saw the Clarets throw everything at David Moyes side as they added a point to the board.
POSITIVES FROM THE PERFORMANCE
'I think on the whole it’s positive because we’ve come off the back of a little bit of a bad period. So, I feel it’s good for us to build a foundation over the last two games, get some points on the board and build some confidence.'
RETURNING FROM INJURY AFTER SETBACKS
'Honestly, it was an incredible feeling. I actually didn’t really expect to start but last night I had the jitters and I felt like I knew something was coming. It was a really long time out; I had multiple setbacks.
'I felt like I learnt and grew in that time to embrace everything as it comes and not be almost so desperate for it. But know that it’s going to come and when it does just take the opportunities and enjoy it really, above all else.'

WALKING OUT WITH HIS DAUGHTER
'What a special feeling. She was a little bit starstruck but then after that she started getting into it. Unforgettable, I’ll never, ever forget that.'
IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE AND A CLEAN SHEET
'I don’t really think about it I’m just thinking about the boys, especially those around me in the close unit – Hjalmar, Lucas Pires, Martin who I’m talking to throughout the whole game. I’m proud of them because it’s not been easy for us.
'So, to get that foundation, that’s our job first and foremost, get clean sheets. And then we’re going to support the boys to get some goals.'
LOOKING AHEAD TO NEWCASTLE
'Realistically the Premier League is what it is, it’s the toughest league in the world. Everyone says it and after playing it today I understand why.
'I feel like for us to get points on the board, it’s first and foremost the most important thing, we want to win every single game. Let’s build this foundation, let’s go on, we’ve got another game coming thick and fast, then we’ve got another game on Saturday after that. So, I feel like this is good for our confidence and we can just keep going from here.'
