Gracie Fitzgerald Takes the US Soccer Player of the Year with a Disability

This defender with the US Deaf WNT lead her team to a record setting advancement in the Deaf World Cup, she also plays at nationally ranked Centre College. With her first appearance back in 2015, the player is now just 19 and anchored the US team with a goal facing Great Britan and her spot on the Best XI All-World Cup Team as her defense conceeded all but 2 goals tourney wide. Gracie stated, "It is an absolute honor to be recognized for playing the game I love." Her play at the University level was equally impressive, starting 16 of 22 games for #4 Centre College who did well in the DIII playofffs getting to the 3rd round with a record of 21-1. Her pair of goals on the year including a well placed headed goal in the FInal for her conference. US Deaf WNT HC AMy Griffin contributed this on the player, "On the US DWNT, she was paramount to the success of the 2016 championship team."
