Harrison, NJ (February 28, 2023) – With a stacked roster of FIFA Women’s World Cup and National Women’s Soccer League champions, Gotham FC today announced that individual tickets are on sale now for the club’s first home match off the 2023 NWSL season. The star-studded showdown will feature U.S. Women’s National Team players Kristie Mewis, Midge Purce, and Lynn Williams of Gotham FC facing off against USWNT midfielders Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle of the OL Reign on April 1 at Red Bull Arena (7 p.m. ET).  “To play for the best country in the world, it means everything,” said Olympic medalist, three-time NWSL champion, league Golden Boot winner, and Gotham FC forward Williams. “What it means to play for the best city in the world, well, I can’t wait to get started.” Gotham FC’s bold new vision features a roster of strong returners and newly acquired top talent, including World Cup and Olympic champion defenders Ali Krieger and Kelley O’Hara, World Cup champion midfielder Allie Long, as well as forward Yazmeen Ryan and goalkeeper Abby Smith – both new signings who won last year’s NWSL Championship. “I’m so excited for this next year with Gotham,” said Mewis, who produced two goals and three assists for the club last season in addition to her seven goals and four assists in 50 caps for the USWNT.  “I feel like we have such a good squad. We have a new coach, and it’s just going to be such a new energy.” “There’s literally nothing better,” said Purce on what it means to play for the best national team in the world and to play professionally in the best city in the world. “NYC. USWNT. They just go together – best of both worlds.” Purce has 12 goals and four assists as a forward for Gotham FC in addition to her four goals and three assists for the USWNT.
