BEST OF ROUND 7

Round 7 of Ligue 1 Uber Eats provided the first midweek round of action and it did not disappoint. PSG left it late - again, Monaco and LOSC picked up wins and out 32 goals scored on the night, six were scored by Rennes!

Hakimi late show stuns Met

Paris Saint-Germain scored a stoppage-time winner for the second time in three days to beat Metz 2-1 at the Stade Saint-Symphorien to extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points.

In a fiery encounter, PSG took the lead through Achraf Hakimi (5') but failed to build on their advantage and Metz defender Kiki Kouyaté superbly headed the hosts level (39').
The game burst into life in the final minute when Metz captain Dylan Bronn was sent off for a second bookable offence. Metz coach Fréderic Antonetti was then sent to the stands for his protests at Bronn's dismissal.
Then Hakimi drilled home his second of the night in stoppage time to keep PSG on maximum points for the season.

New boys on Target for Lyon

Lyon bounced back from Sunday's last-gasp defeat against PSG to beat Troyes 3-1 at the Groupama Stadium.
Xavier Chavalerin gave Troyes a shock lead (45') but normal service resumed just after halftime when Xherdan Shaqiri netted his first goal for Les Gones (48'), then, Emerson Palmieri notched his first for the club (72'). Lucas Paqueta continued his excellent goalscoring form by netting Lyon's third and his fourth goal of the season, three minutes from time to get OL back to winning ways.

"I'm always focussed," said Paqueta when asked why he often scores in the latter end of games."I remain attentive until the end and I'm now positioning myself closer to the opposition's goal than before. We played well and I'm pleased that we got back to winning ways."

Gap widens for OM

Marseille remain second on the table but lost ground on leaders PSG after a goalless draw at Angers. The result means OM are unbeaten after six games for the first time since the 2012-13 season.

We faced a team that came to defend and not concede," said a frustrated OM coach Jorge Sampaoli. "It was difficult for us to break them down. We had to make changes to our starting lineup because we have matches every three days but that is not why we didn't win this game. We put a lot of effort in but ultimately couldn't find a breakthrough."

Monaco steady the ship

Another side registering a long-overdue three points was Monaco who got the better of 10-man Saint Etienne 3-1 at the Stade Louis II.
Germany international Kevin Volland put the principality side in the ascendancy (27') and the home side's advantage was further extended when Saint Etienne 'keeper Etienne Green was shown a red card for a foul on Monaco's Myron Boadu.

"I'm delighted with the victory and the three points," said PSG's two-goal hero Hakimi who has made an impressive start to his time in the capital. "I'm happy to be able to help the team with my goals so that we can carry on this good run. We've been working really hard and we want to keep this winning run going as long as possible.
