Bittersweet afternoon for striker in the capital

Despite bagging his third goal in three Premier League games, forward Zian Flemming was left bitterly disappointed following Saturday's narrow defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium.

The Dutchman headed home the opener from Lesley Ugochukwu's cross, before goals from Callum Wilson, Tomas Soucek and Kyle Walker-Peters gave the Hammers a 3-1 lead, with Josh Cullen bagging a late consolation goal for the Clarets.

Speaking post-match in London, the 27-year-old said: "It's a very unnecessary defeat, which makes it even worse for us. We know how strong this league is, but we walk off that pitch today with that feeling inside, knowing that game was there to be won, it's disappointing."

Flemming continued: "Even when they equalised just before half-time, it wasn't a massive killer for us and didn't define the game, we knew that at half-time.

"If you go in at half-time at 1-1 or 2-2, you know the game is still there for either team to win it, but I thought we lacked a bit of our game management really and that's what has cost us in the end."

Flemming's crashing header arrived in the 35th minute, after winning a header in a duel, before laying it off to Loum Tchaouna, who found Ugochukwu outside the area to fire a perfectly-timed ball into the area for the forward to latch onto and head home.

The goal was Flemming's third in as many league games, but admitted it didn't mean too much too him after narrowly losing the clash.

"It was a really nice feeling, putting us 1-0 up away from home and piles the pressure onto them and I think it was a reward for how well we were playing at that time too.

"It was a good team goal, not just the cross and the header, but the build-up and movement from the other guys, so that was a good feeling, but right now it means nothing really."

The Clarets now have a two week gap until their next fixture with the November international break beginning this week, but the attacker is eager to get back onto the training ground and start the preparation for Chelsea.

"Right now I'm not really ready or looking forward to some time off, If I could train tomorrow, I would. That's the feeling I have right now.

"The schedule is what it is though and we have to take these few days off to clear our minds then start the hard work for the next game."
