Red Bull New York Trades Midfielder Daniel Edelman to St. Louis CITY SC

HARRISON, N.J. (January 13, 2026) – Red Bull New York have traded midfielder Daniel Edelman to St. Louis CITY SC, the club announced today. New York will receive up to $850,000 in total General Allocation Money (GAM), $500,000 in 2026, $200,000 in 2027, and $150,000 if certain performance metrics are met. RBNY will also retain a percentage of sell-on rights.

Edelman, 22, joined New York in 2022 after spending two seasons with Red Bull New York II. He made 118 appearances across all competitions, where he recorded three goals and six assists. Edelman was the fifth N.J. native in franchise history to make 100 appearances for the club. This past season, he made 25 MLS appearances and scored one goal. He also became the fifth homegrown player in franchise history to record an assist in an international competition, after recording an assist against C.F. Monterrey in 2025 Leagues Cup.
In 2024, Edelman made a career-high 31 MLS appearances for the club and helped New York win their first-ever Eastern Conference Championship. He scored the game-winning penalty kick against Columbus Crew in Game 2 of Round One of the 2024 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs to send New York to the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the first time since 2018.
The Warren, N.J. native scored his first career MLS goal on August 27, 2022, against Inter Miami CF. He made 16 appearances his first season, including his MLS debut on February 26, 2022, against San Jose Earthquakes. He was named Red Bulls Newcomer of the Year in 2022. Edelman was named to the 22 Under 22 MLS list twice during his career with the Red Bulls, No. 11 in 2024, and No. 21 in 2023.
