DC United began their 2020 season with a 2-1 loss against the Colorado Rapids. A total of 16,711 fans went to Audi Field to see the debuts of Edison Flores & Julian Gressel, their right back, Russell Sanouse scored the only goal for the local team at 60'. The first goal of their 25th MLS season came from a corner kick. Gressel aimed for the back post, finding Canouse, who pushed away from the crowd to reach that back post and head the ball into the goal for the 1-0 lead.

United's advantage did not last long as the Rapids retaliated with a goal minutes later. The visiting side's initial corner was half-cleared, but Jack Price managed to send the ball back in, picking out an open Kei Kamara for the 1-1 score.

Flores scored after a smooth pass by Julian Gressel, but he was a step offside.

The Rapids fought back with the game up for grabs, Jonathan Lewis scored a 92' winner.

DC United will face Inter Miami FC next weekend, Mar. 7 at 3:30 p.m.ET.
