The Day After Decision

By Sean McCaffery, November 30, 2023

Hopefully this is the last I post on the player entering the referees locker room. Yes, 20+ days is far too long to come out with a decision, yes the team had to know it would happen and prepare as if he would not play, a massive loss. The voting for Defender of The the year etc., already done, this should not cost him that and those who voted the value of their votes. This should have only a minor if any impact on his time with the USMNT. That he is going to drug and behavioral testing does not mean he has an issue with substances, they are grouped together, due to stigmas, maybe not good to have them together?. I did not see him with an adult beverage or smell i on him, yes I was more than close enough to smell it and would have, tight quarters. That no video no proof argument wrong it does not have to b released. That facts are off, it was not security that pulled him out, the door was guarded improperly, but guarded. Whatever food he was carrying, really? One thing and one thing only matters, he entered the area. Did he knock or no, no but still you do not go to there door, again inadequate security. I came to know much of what I shared from emails put out by the league, were editorial in nature. Fair enough then they should not comment on league affairs such as this, as of now no decision has been made is more than enough. Waffling even the slightest bit as they did, not a good look. The one thing that should be under consideration is he did or did not enter and what transpired once in the room, nothing more or less. I know a number of people in the FCC organization and their families for decades, I wish all teams the best for what has been a great if too long of a playoff season. that it took so long was no good for anyone but did keep the incident and league as a bit of a talking point, not a positive.
