Courage Dine on the Dash 4-1

By Sean McCaffery, April 28, 2019

Things are bigger in Texas as was this win for the visitors who saw Williams get her 40th pro goal and Debhina the 100th team goal.  So far so perfect for the 2019 season as Long Islander Crystal Dunn a defender for the USWNT and Leah Pruitt added the other pair of goals. Lynn is now #4 in the league in goals all time and Pruitt had this, her first pro goal, what a historic game for the team. With 20 shots, 13 on goal NC was clawing away all the time, in the 9', Dunn sent a pefect ball to Lynn who arrived as did the Dash GK, and she was then forced into a diving save, keeping Williams from the ball and a certain goal. Jessica McDonald, also of the USWNT tested Capbell 2x in scant seconds at 20' then ten minutes later in the penalty box she was leveled, setting the pk for Williams, it turned into the 2nd saved pk of the year for Campbell. Lynn came back when she scored as the first half ended, a free kick to Dahlkemper put a long ball to Jessica who headed it on toward the net, it bounded off a defender then Williams struck her header home. Dunn kept trying and finally finished one getting her 4th of the year, she took the ball to the endline, lofting a crossing ball beyond Campbell off the bar and in at the hour mark. Debhina of the Brazil WNT joined the party at 69' in her first game of the year and just 6 minutes into it, an incoming balll from Hinkle forced Campbell to box it away directly to Debhina who then buried it for goal #100 in team history. Pruitt made her own history as she came in at 67' Lynn sped to open space, puting the ball into the bos and the advancing Pruitt nodded it home, upper right. Fellow St. John's Soccer Alum and English National Team player Rachel Daly saved the clean sheet from being dropped on the home team as a high arching ball went in at 86'. This win dashed any hope of Houston getting their first win facing the Courage ever. Williams is now #4 in NWSL history for goals behind others including McDonald
