Cosomos Beat Boston City FC by an odd Football Score

By Sean McCaffery, May 12, 2019

NY continued it's hot start to the season, winning by a field goal and a safety, 5-0 with an even larger crowd than their home opener, all goals coming in the 2nd half. 2nd generation pro and international player from El Salvador, Junior Burgos struck 2x as he made his NPSL debut with his pair of free kick strikes, he was selected at the Man of the Match before 5.121 frenzied fans at Mitchel. Joining Junior on the score sheet were Darwin Espinal, Charlier Ledula & Joey Sanchez. Three shutouts over this young year saw Santiago Castano  get this one, as the team has yet to concede in league play. Espinal hit early in the second stanza, 50', his first as the free kick by Burgos was punched out right to Espinal, his strike rang true for a 1-0 lead. He is begining to make a habit of this, one the Cosmos faithful hope keeps going with his hitting them with a brace last year. 2nd half sub, Charlie Ledula corraled a long ball, burying it at 62' into the right corner. Burgos began his assault on the goal at 75' as his 27 yeard free kick found the upper 90 for a 3-0 lead.   Katz the GK of Boston made a great save on a David Diosa go at goal, Sanchez sent the ever dangerous 2nd ball home at 85'. The scoring was closed out by a 25 yard direct kick from Burgos as his left side stike made it 5-0.  Next home games are international side FC St Paul at a familiar place and name, Rocco Commisso Soccer Stadium at Columbia University. May 23 @ 7:30. Next home league game is Hartford who will be looking to even the score of this game on June 1 @ 8 p.m.
