With a 2-1 victory over first year team Inter Miami, he made but one change to the previous starting lineup, as Yamil Asad replaced an injured Ulisses Segura.

Roldolfo Pizarro, a very skillful player, scored the first goal in Inter Miami's history at 2', after a cross from Lewis Morgan. In the 15', Erik Sorga made his debut, replacing an injured Ola Makara. DC United put the pressure on Miami with Julian Gressel and Russeell Canouse combining down the right side to deliver some dangerous crosses. Oneil Fisher replaced Joseph Moran in stoppage time of the first half to make his first appearance since the match against Montreal on Sept. 29, 2018.

In the second half, Inter Miami's Roman Torres received a red card in the 54' after VAR ruled an intentional handball on an obvious goal scoring opportunity. Right after, DC United were awared a penalty after Edison Flores, who had a better game, was brought down in the box in the 59'. Yamil Asad calmly finished into the bottm left coner too level the score. DC United kept the pressure on Miami with Frederic Brilliant who put United ahead with a right-footed volley in the 61' after a free kick taken by Flores. Chris Odoi-Atsem returned to the field for the first time since Aug. 4, 2019 as he replaced the goal scorer, Yail Asad at 73'. DC United worked very well defensivley and recorded their first victory of the season.
