Vancouver will get a first round pick in the 2023 draft from LAFC for a 2023 International spot. Although it will take some time to get a return on this, with so little time left in the year it will prove to be a great deal, maybe packaged with their natural pick for a higher spot in the draft? The Whitecaps still have one empty international spot left for the current season.
In Feb. of this year, MLS gave the 3 teams north of the border $150,000 more in GAM every season to help getting an international slot, 2 have been traded away of late. Vancouver received another one from the Timbers back in Feb. for $165,000 in GAM. I would expect them to look to deal off this last spot they are sitting on.
