'Caps get Cristian

Left back Gutierrez of Canada is back from Chile and their Chilean Primera Division, at just 22 he brings 50 games at the top level from Chile and its experiences with him. As they keep ramping up for the kickoff for their pre season in Vancouver, they are still at it as they add him on a free transfer from the fabled Colo-Colo. He is from Greenfield Park, Quebec and has time with the YNT of Chile, yet eligible for Canada at the full national level. His contract is for this and next year, with an option for 2022 & '23.

Vancouvers Sporting Director Axel Schuster stated "Cristian was looking for a new opportunity and we are excited to bring him to Vancouver. He has the 4 cornerstones we look for in a player."

HC Marco Dos Santos informed " Cristian is a young left back who has some experience playing in Chile at the highest level. We believe that Cristian will continue to grow and develop at our club. We are very happy to add him to our roster."

At 5'11 he came up through the system of the well known club Colo-Colo getting his first pro time in 2015, over his 5 years in that league he was also with Union Espanola in 2017 and Huachipato in 2017-'18, adding 26 games in the Copa Chile. He arrived in Santiago at 3, representing Chile in the 2017 CONMEBOL Sudamericano U-20's starting each of their quartet of games.
