'Caps Beat Back the Weather & the Fire

By Sean McCaffery, July 23, 2020

Right down to the end, needing to win by a pair, it was still not certain as CJ Sapong did put one in, off his arm. The good thing about the weather delay was it allowed me to catch the rebroadcast of the NWSL game pitting the Red Stars v Sky Blue, the bad thing was they were scheduled to begin an hour apart, lets fracture the smaller audiance for the men and women's game by doing so?

Adding to the tension before the weather interruption was that it was deadlocked at zero after the first 45'. Just beyond the hour mark, local lighting strikes, caused the delay, but it did electrify the 'Caps along with the entry of Dajome & Reyna. Renya beat the 'keeper just minutes in as he took the through ball by Adnan and beast Kronholm to start the scoring. 71' the same pair of 'Caps were the culprits once again as Adnan again fed Reyna with a header, Yordy took it off his chest sending a Dajome free for his 2nd goal, now they had what they needed . At just 21, the Homegrown 'Caps 'keeper, Thomas Hasal kept them in the game with 4 saves and his initial start as the starter is out with a fracture, Crepeau.

A young roster was put out by Dos Santos with 9 players unable to play, 3 were 21 and a pair made their first starts.
