By Sean McCaffery, March 12, 2018

Mineola native and long time pro player, Carlos Mendes is still on the sidelines but is not to cross them now. One of many local players who have dotted this storied franchise since its return in 2013 he will be heading the coaching staff with a familar face or two as well with, Luis Gutierrez, back as First Asst. & Strength and Conditioning coach while Steven Dias is retained as the GK coach, his post for the last 3 years. The new league for the Green & White, the NPSl had their B team in it as well as they took the 2015 title. COO Erik Stover recognizes "Los" as one to be followed by others and a member of club lore that in their time of uncertainty he is a beacon of strength and will keep the family feel that has been surrounding them since their reboot intact. Mendes was glad the 'Mos afforded him this opportunity to kick off his coaching career following half a decade as a player for the most historic of Americna soccer teams. As a player he was the first one signed in their return, he was a fixture for the defense as he was captain the whole time over his 122 appearances, he was the first to the century mark hitting for 4 goals including one in his final home game to go with 2 assists, the fullback was named to the NASL best 11 thrice. The team will be holding tryouts Mar. 19,20 & 23 from 7-9PM location to be announced at a sooner rather than a later date.
