Clarets take on the U's at Turf Moor

Burnley return to Turf Moor on Tuesday night, as the Clarets host Oxford United in the Sky Bet Championship.

Scott Parker's men head into the clash on an 18 match unbeaten run in all competitions and still remain undefeated at home across the 2024/25 season.

The Clarets are currently third in the Championship table, three points off Sheffield United in 2nd and five points off league leaders Leeds United.

Oxford's recent turn of form has seen the U's move up to 16th place, with Gary Rowett's side unbeaten in their last nine league games.

The opposition

Following promotion to League Two in 2010 from the Conference Premier, United spent six seasons in the fourth tier, before a 2nd place finish in the 2015/16 campaign saw Oxford reach League One.

The U's secured an 8th place finish in their first season, before two unsuccessful shots at promotion via the play-offs in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.

Oxford then survived relegation from League One in 2022/23 by two points, before a 5th place finish saw United in the play-offs once again, but this time they were successful.

After defeating Peterborough over two legs in the semi-finals, the U's then saw off Bolton Wanderers at Wembley to seal their place in the Championship for the 2024/25 campaign.

Out of the three promoted clubs competing in the Championship this season, Oxford are the highest-placed out of the trio that includes Derby and Portsmouth.

United suffered a tricky start to the season, but following Gary Rowett's appointment and a turn of results from around the Christmas period, the U's have risen to 16th place and are unbeaten in their last nine league games.

In the away dugout

Gary Rowett began his coaching career in 2009 with Burton Albion, working as assistant manager to Paul Peschisolido. Following Peschisolido's sacking in March 2012, Rowett was appointed as boss of the Brewers.

He led Burton to a fourth place finish in League Two in his first full campaign at the Pirelli Stadium in 2012/13, but lost out to eventual winners Bradford City in the play-off semi-finals.

The following season saw Rowett's side reach the play-offs again and this time reach the final, but the Brewers suffered defeat at Wembley to Fleetwood Town.

October 2014 then saw Rowett depart Burton and join Birmingham City as manager, he spent just over two years at St Andrews, with the Blues in the play-off places when he departed in December 2016.

Rowett wasn't out of work for too long, with the former Leicester City midfielder then joining one of his former club's in Derby County as manager in March 2017.

Following a brief spell with the Rams and then a year with Stoke City, Rowett joined Millwall as manager in October 2019 and spent just under four years with the Lions, securing 8th, 9th and 11th place finishes in the Championship, before leaving in October 2023.

There was a brief return to Birmingham last season in an attempt to keep the Blues in the Championship, but they were subsequently relegated.

Rowett was then appointed boss of Oxford just before Christmas and the U's are yet to lose in the Championship under his guidance.
