FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB NEW YORK TO VISIT AC NEWPORT ON SATURDAY
The Fighting Tomcats will play their first road match of the season
Long Island, NY (May 20th, 2026) – American Soccer Club New York will make their first road trip of the 2026 National Premier Soccer League season this Saturday May 23rd when they travel to Newport, Rhode Island for a match with AC Newport. Kickoff for the match at Toppa Field is set for 6pm ET.
This past Saturday, the Fighting Tomcats (1-1-0) won their first match of the season defeating AC Newport (0-1-0) 5-0 at Lavalle Stadium on the campus of Stony Brook University.
A week later, the clubs will meet again.
“The coaches and I were pleased with the team’s performance (last) Saturday,” said ASC New York Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “Believing AC Newport will do all they can to negate that, we’re preparing for this match with open eyes and understanding that it will be a competitive game. Having five different goal scorers last week speaks to the versality we have. However, our standards are still not as consistent as they need to be.”
Brian Saramago, Sean Fitzgerald, Aidan Kolbe, Ezequiel Palomeque, and Chris Morandi all scored for the Fighting Tomcats in last week’s match. 17-year-old midfielder Dylan Lopez notched his first career point with an assist on Morandi’s goal in the 90th minute.
“I felt we did a great job executing our game plan for the match,” said Kolbe. “The team played very well together and showed our individual talents as well. I felt we did a great job playing to our strengths.”
This Saturday will mark the first home match in club history for AC Newport.
ASC New York’s next home match will be on Saturday June 6th when they host New Haven United FC at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale. Kickoff is set for 6pm ET and tickets are available on the American Soccer Club New York website www.ascnewyork.com.
