New York Red Bulls Goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci Suffers Knee Injury

HARRISON, N.J. (August 15, 2025) – New York Red Bulls goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee injury in New York’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal match against the Philadelphia Union on August 13. Marcucci will undergo surgery at a later date.

Marcucci, 26, entered his fifth season with the Red Bulls, where he had made seven appearances across all competitions for the club. This season, Marcucci had posted his first career MLS appearance in a 2-1 win over Toronto FC on March 22. He also recorded his first career shutout for the Red Bulls in a 1-0 win over Chivas Guadalajara in the 2025 Leagues Cup. The West Chester, PA native had posted a 4-1-2 mark this season for the club.

Editor's Note: We did see the injury, that knee went a way it should no have. We do wish him a full and faast recovery. On TV, it did not appear as if the rain soaked field, a lot of rain, played a role in this, he did land on his feet following a save, very awkardly.
