Back to the friendly confines of Toyota Park for the Fire as the Second City team hosts one out of the Big Apple. The home team looks to get a game closer to .500 as they bring in their 5-7-5 record to bear against the far better 9-3-4 record of the visitors. This kicks off at 7 p.m. CT. The FIre at 1-3-3 facing NYCFC but will go over .500 at home with a win from 1-1-1. The away game for the Fire is Sept. 6 @ 6pm CT. USMNT player and 4th round pick of Chicago in 2010 will surely be between the pipes, he was there for Chicago for 176 games.

In beating out Morocco for this, possibly the most coveted of all World Cups due to it being the first with the expanded field of 48 teams, it was quite the get for Mexico, Canada and the USA. Hope Solo had been against it due to the issues within US Soccer, that is her choice but was not her choise with the issues in Brazil or Qatar which had and still have larger societal issues. This I mention now and now only as it is a day to celebrate.  She further asked where is the press now that the charges on her had been dropped?

Next up for the victorious USA will be Mexico in the title match June 12 @ 4:30 E.T. on go90.com and UDN. For their part, Mexico overcame Canada 2-1. The belle of this ball was Sunshine Fontes with her 2nd brace including the game winner.  Two of the 3 goals amazingly enough were netted in under a minute, one of course by Sunshine, the other sent home by Mia Fishel.  Haiti put together a rugged and well positioned defensive effort creating limited but threatening conters and hopeful distance shots.
