Red Bull New York II (3-0-2, 11 pts.) defeat New England Revolution II (2-1-2, 10 pts) 2-1, on Sunday night at Beirne Stadium.

New York opened the scoring in the first minute of first half stoppage time. Goalkeeper Tobias Szewczyk played a long ball over New England’s back line to forward Roald Mitchell who lobbed a shot over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

New England leveled the score in the 65th minute. Szewczyk handled the ball outside of the box and was issued a red card. Revolution II midfielder Carlos Zambrano placed a free kick into the top left corner of the net.

Red Bulls II found the match winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Forward Mijahir Jimenez was fouled at the top of the box to give New York a free kick. Midfielder Andy Rojas stepped up and laced his free kick into the bottom right corner.

Mitchell scored his third goal of the season and his 23rd across all competitions. That moves him past Peter Stroud for fourth-most goals scored across all competitions in club history.

Rojas scored his first goal of the season and eighth in his career across all competitions with Red Bulls II.
Szewczyk recorded his first career MLS NEXT Pro assist and is the first goalkeeper in Red Bulls II history to tally an assist in a match.

Defender Connor Faello made his first career MLS NEXT Pro start and appearance.

Goalkeeper Tomas Hut made his MLS NEXT Pro debut, subbing into the match in the 64th minute.

New York have won three of their last four matches against New England and improve their record against the side to 5-3-1.

With the victory, Red Bulls II are unbeaten in their first five matches of for the fourth time in club history and second time through their time in MLS NEXT Pro.
