A win over Cameroon was the highlight of this trip to Uruguay for the young ladies in red White & Blue as the same fate met them last night as it did in facing a strong Korean side, a loss. Although the Germans were spotted a goal early at 4', on a dfk, the reply to this was very strong. If not for some great work by the German 'keeper and disappointing finishing on behalf of the US they would have taken a first half lead by a few. Coach Mar Carr informed, "I'm proud of out team's performance,,I'm a very proud coach of our team today." At 5', Isabella D' Aquila shoot over the bar on a point blank chance as Mia Fishel got her the ball. At 8' D'Aquila again got involved speeding into the box laying it off to Trinity Rodman for a wide open shot, thwarted by GK Willebrandt and a one handed save. Next up 13' as Sophia Jones intercepted the German pass, in her attacking 3rd, and in 2 passes D'Aquila was again in on goal but again the 6' netminder did her thing with a sparkling kick save. 8' in, a cheeky kick by the US went from left to Jordan Canniff in the box with an open shot but a tough angle saw the ball outside of the left post. Now into the 27', a one bounce shot by Canniff in the goal box was stopped from point blank range again by Willebrant. The 2nd shot from the victors lead to their 2nd goal on a counter following a break away. First half stoppage time saw the ball beat the Germans but a handball by the shooter, D'Aquilla nullified that. 4 minutes into the 2nd half, from the left side of the box, Fishel worked her way free only to hit the left post. Off a counter Germany was awarded a pk at 64' it was saved by Angelina Anderson. at 65' as the US kept pushing, a counter made it 3-0. Talia DellaPeruta was sent off with 2 quick cards in the 82nd minute, 5 minutes later Rodman was free in the penalty area and again the left post was struck.
