Infantino on World Cup "Zero Incidents, Zero Hostilitity, Zero Viloence" Mexico 4 Dead in the Victory over Ecuador Celebrations

—FIFA president Gianni Infantino in an Instagram post Sunday, lashing out at critics who were “busy planting seeds of hate” during the 2026 men’s World Cup. Infantino told FIFA’s critics to “meditate, pray, or watch a football match” instead of spending their energy “hating” the global soccer association.

The post was filled with jarring and inaccurate claims. He wrote that the World Cup saw “zero incidents, zero hostility, zero violence, just joy, emotions, happiness, unity, and togetherness.”

Four people died during celebrations in Mexico City after Mexico beat Ecuador in the round of 32. And South African midfielder Jayden Adams was found dead in Cape Town after returning from the tournament.
