AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB NEW YORK ENJOYS SUCCESSFUL SECOND NPSL SEASON
First playoff appearance in team history and growing corporate support highlights the Fighting Tomcats’ 2026 campaign
Long Island, NY (July 29th, 2026) – In just their second season in the National Premier Soccer League, American Soccer Club New York made great strides from their inaugural campaign in 2025. The 2026 season was highlighted by the significant growth of the franchise, both on and off the pitch.
"As we reflect on an incredible year for American Soccer Club New York, I couldn't be prouder of what our players, coaches, staff, interns, supporters, partners, and community have accomplished together,” said American Soccer Club NY Managing Partner and General Manager Jim Kilmeade.
“On the field, our NPSL campaign equaled and exceeded expectations. Our Fighting Tomcats earned a playoff berth, advanced to the Conference Championship match, falling one Penalty Kick short of the NPSL National Quarterfinals.”
There were several significant accomplishments during the Fighting Tomcats’ 2026 season.
-American Soccer Club NY established historic Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale as their primary home venue. The team also played their first two matches in team history in Suffolk County at Lavalle Stadium on the campus of Stony Brook University.
-The Fighting Tomcats recorded an impressive 2-1 victory over USL League One’s New York Cosmos in the inaugural Kick ALS Cup on June 24th at Lavalle Stadium.
-A record home crowd of 1,650 fans attended Bolla Market Night on June 17th at Mitchel Athletic Complex.
One of the defining moments of our season came in the inaugural Kick ALS Cup, when our Fighting Tomcats earned a historic 2-1 victory over USL League One's New York Cosmos.
-For the first time in franchise history, American Soccer Club NY qualified for the NPSL playoffs following a 4-2-4 regular season.
-American Soccer Club NY notched the first postseason win in team history with a 3-1 win over the New York Shockers in the North Atlantic Conference Semifinal on July 8th.
-The team’s family of corporate partnerships grew tremendously in 2026. Inaugural season partners LifeVac, Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group-Northwell Health and Macron were joined by new partners Bolla Market, Chase Bank, CBIZ, Embassy Diner, Eat Better Meals and Coral Color.
-American Soccer Club NY and Bolla Market announced a partnership for the launch of ASC NY-Bolla Market Youth Academy, the only fully-funded youth soccer academy on Long Island.
-For the second straight season, Game in Frame served as the streaming broadcast home of American Soccer Club NY.
“Everything we accomplished this year was built on the support of our fans, sponsors, volunteers, and the communities that embraced our vision from day one,” said Kilmeade. “While we're proud of what we've achieved, we believe this is only the beginning.”
On the pitch, the Fighting Tomcats took a major step forward in 2026. After a solid regular season, American Soccer Club NY showed just how far they had come with a playoff victory before the season came to an end with a loss in penalty kicks to New Haven United FC on July 12th in the North Atlantic Conference Final.
“I’m incredibly proud of the boys and the coaches, mostly because of their professionalism and their unwavering commitment, particularly during sticky moments in the season,” said Fighting Tomcats Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “I’m very pleased that the club was successful in delivering in two specific areas…one being improved performance, and subsequent results, over last season. And the other being qualifying for postseason. In addition, we had a number of individual players who made incredible strides in their personal development.”
There were a number of players who made significant contributions to the club this season including goalkeeper Aidan Ganun, forward Bradyn Brown, defender Tommy Wagner midfielder Sean Fitzgerald, defender Ezequiel Palomeque, forward Junior Rosero, and midfielder Leo Pinto.
“After missing the playoffs last season, our number one goal for this season was making the playoffs,” said Pinto. “Not only did we make it, we made it in with less playoff spots and a tougher league overall. Being one of the captains, proud is an understatement for how I feel for every member on this team. Every game was a battle that we were well prepared for thanks to the coaches and staff.”
While the season came to an end with a heartbreaking loss, the 2026 campaign was a major step forward for American Soccer Club NY. With a bright future on the pitch, along with a growing fan base and an impressive group of corporate partners, the Fighting Tomcats are looking to take another step in 2027.
“We have great support behind us, which certainly helps us to be successful on the field,” said Fitzgerald. “There are a lot of terrific people involved here, and I look forward to helping the club to further positive development and expanding.”
“The foundation has strengthened,” said Kilmeade. “A strong culture has been established. The future of the American Soccer Club New York Fighting Tomcats has never been brighter. We look forward to making history while re-establishing the Long Island Metro New York area as the epicenter of American Soccer.”
