New York City FC (NYCFC) topped visiting Sporting Kansas City, 3:1, during Friday evening encounter, before crowd of 20,178, at Bronx’s Yankee Stadium.

A low offense by each club in the opening minutes with its first dangerous opportunity to score came in the 34th minute when Argentinean international midfielder Maximiliano Moralez’s header was one handed saved by Sporting KC goalkeeper Tim Melia over the cross bar for a corner kick.

Liverpool FC, 2018-19 UEFA Champions League Winner, played to a 2:2 draw against Sporting CP of Portugal on Wednesday evening before crowd of 31,112 fans at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, N.Y.

It was the 18-time Portuguese champion that struck first in the match, that was for the Western Union Cup, as the country’s international midfielder Bruno Fernandes fired a 22 yarder that was misjudged by Belgium’s international goalkeeper Simon Mignolet of Liverpool for the 1:0 lead in fourth minute of play.

At 1-0, another shutout by Luis Robles with the 7th goal from Brian White at 32' got the visitors the win yesterday. This was the last of a trio of games in 8 days, leaving the team in the thick of things for the playoffs with 34 points from their 10-8-4 record. In those 8 days and 3 games, 6 of 9 points were secured, those 3 were lost in a poorly played game with Toronto and all goals in the Hudson River Derby had calls to thank for them, not encouraging for the higher level of play expected in the playoffs.

New York Cosmos topped visiting FC Baltimore, 3:1, to capture 2019 NPSL’s (National Premier Soccer League) Northeast Regional Title at Uniondale’s Mitchel Athletic Complex on Sunday evening.

Forward Issac Acuna gave the hosts the lead in the fifth minute-mark, but midfielder Nick Gumbs tied it for Baltimore just before the intermission.

Baltimore was reduced to 10 players after defender Joseph Glos received a straight red card by the referee in the 60th minute.

The Red Stars blow into town, to face the red hot Courage at 6-2-4 including a 5 game undefeated streak, leading the league in goals, assists, goal differential, shots & shots on goal, very offensive numbers. This marquee match will be shown on ESPN2 with 14 players on either side from the just completed World Cup , this is their 3rd meet this year one a tie, the other a 3-1 Red Star victory. Last game, NC beat the Reign 2-0, July 13 with Lynn WIlliams getting the opening goal at 22', as Kristen Hamilton put the ball into her at her feet, for her 5th of the year.
