June 8, 2012-The force was with Massapequa on June 3 at Stringham Park in LaGrange as the Massapequa Force of the Long Island Junior Soccer League defeated the Staten Island United Thunderbolts of the Staten Island Youth Soccer League, 3-1 in the Girls-Under-18 State Open Cup final. Scoring Massapequa’s goals were Katie Corkan, Brianna Marino and Taylor Venturino.

“We won the game because the girls never gave up. Staten Island scored first but it was our will to win that made the difference,” stated Massapequa coach Frank Marino, “It takes so much effort to get to the final at Under-18. Some of our girls gave up graduations to come here and they did not want to go home to Long Island without a victory.”

Massapequa will be representing the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) in the Regionals from June 28 to July 3 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
